[True copies of letters sent to the New Lebanon, N.Y., community]. 1815-1821.

Letters are from different West Union, Ind., residents and contain a variety of messages. In one letter is a hymn written by "Big Isaachar" and a description of activities at the Shakers' fishery. Another includes a description of a religious meeting, a list of West Union leaders, and comments about the development of the community. A third, probably from Isaachar Bates to Seth Youngs Wells, contains thoughts about the Harmonites and George Rapp. A fourth letter relates concerns about communication between the eastern and western communities. And a fifth lists everyday activities at West Union.
